On December 21, at 9:00 p.m. Miami time, the world premiere of Memento Vivere took place, the short film produced by Maura Abad based on her poetry collection “42 Poems. It’s All About The Context,” opera prima with which Maura makes her formal entry into the world of poetry. The short film was presented yesterday on Instagram, Facebook, X, Substack, and LinkedIn. It will later be available on the website.

With impeccable production, Memento Vivere transports the viewer to the moment when a daughter says goodbye to her father and accepts grief as part of her life, while embarking on an emotional journey into memory, contemplating a reunion with her father through memories, emotions, and all the resources she received as her inheritance: values, the ability to cope with loss, the regenerative power of love, and the final resolution to continue living and immerse herself in the miracle of life.

This short film is the author’s tribute to her father, whose passing triggered the impulse to write in order to transform pain into art. As a result of this experience, Maura Abad has written two collections of poems: “42 Poems. It’s All About The Context” and “One Frame at a Time with Awareness”, both available on the author’s website https://mauraabad.me.

Memento Vivere stars renowned Ecuadorian actress Frances Swett in the role of Maura, alongside renowned actor Marcelo Galvez, who plays her father. Galvez was also Abad’s acting teacher during her childhood, one of the many beautiful coincidences surrounding the making of the short film that add even more value to this creative experience.

Directed by filmmaker Alberto Pablo Rivera, who also co-wrote the script with Maura, this little cinematic gem stands out for its beautiful photography, polished editing, and shots that evoke universal emotions that strike a chord with viewers. The presence of death is what gives life its unquestionable value, and consciousness and love survive beyond time and space, above physical dissolution. This message of reunion is hopeful, and that deep motivation is reflected in this short film, which recreates the beauty, pain, farewell, loss, acceptance, and feeling of final redemption that only love can give.

Memento Vivere was presented privately to a select audience of friends, followers, and readers on December 8, in Florida, where it was warmly received, eliciting positive reviews and messages of admiration and affection. Yesterday’s official presentation marks a milestone in Maura Abad’s burgeoning career as a writer, whose inspiration and commitment will surely continue to bring us more surprises.
