It is with great joy that we announce to our beloved audience and loyal followers that the short film Memento Vivere has been granted an Honorable Mention at the RED Movie Award @redmovieawards in Reims, France, following a fierce competition with entrants from various countries around the world.

The RED Movie Awards (Reims Excellence Director) are an international competition held annually to honor films and filmmakers from around the world, with the aim of bringing attention and interest to emerging artists and to discover and nurture new talent from across the globe. The awards ceremony took place on May 16 at the prestigious Opera de Reims, attended by distinguished guests and renowned figures from the art world.

Memento Vivere” marks Maura Abad’s debut as a film producer; she co-wrote the screenplay with Alberto Pablo Rivera, the Ecuadorian-born director. This film, produced by Maura and directed by Alberto Pablo, featured magnificent performances by Frances Swett and Marcelo Galvez, telling a story of grief, loss, resolution, and renewal through impeccable cinematography and carefully composed shots. Memento Vivere is also inspired by Maura’s first poetry collection, “42 poems, It’s all about the context,” with which the Cuban Ecuadorian author burst onto the poetry scene last year.

The RED Movie Awards enjoy solid international prestige. This year, Oscar and BAFTA-winning films competed. The jury was composed of KEVIN MCNALLY, LEE ARENBERG (Pirates of the Caribbean), BERNARD FARCY (Taxi Saga), BRUNO CHOEL (French voice of Johnny Depp and Ewan McGregor), and ALEXANDRE GILLET (French voice of Chris Evans and Elijah Wood). Previous winners of the RED Movie Awards include such figures as Tom Holland, Bruno Solo, Agnès Soral, Joel Harlow, Pascal Domolo, or Arielle Dombasle.

The Honorable Mention for Memento Vivere represents a valuable recognition of Maura and Alberto’s efforts to create a work that transcends borders and cultures, marking an important milestone in the history of Ecuadorian cinema.
